Series description: What is your life aiming at right now? What you decide to focus on in this life will determine where you end up. You may not be where you want to be, but aiming your life at the right target will ensure you hit it spot on. One place we will all end up no matter where we are aiming – is a place of judgement before Jesus. There, we will have to give an account of things we have done whether good or bad. Thats why the aim of our life should be at pleasing Him. There are many verses in the Bible that encourage us to aim at pleasing the Lord, and In this series we will focus on just that – Ephesians5:10 and try to discern what is pleasing to the Lord.
Message description: Notice to Appear – One sobering truth that everyone needs to think about often is – we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ. One day we will have to give an account of everything we have done whether good or bad, and there is no failure to appear notices that will be sent out. You can’t get out of this one. This should help motivate us to live in the light of that moment now. Live in a way that you can see yourself standing before Jesus having done your best, having given it your all. Paul encourages us to make it our aim to be pleasing to Jesus. Aiming your life at pleasing God will ensure that that day of judgment will be one to look forward to, rather than cringe thinking about.
A Life Well Lived – Part 1: Notice to Appear
2 Corinthians 5:6-10 – So we are always of good courage. We know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord, for we walk by faith, not by sight. Yes, we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord. So whether we are at home or away, we make it our aim to please him. For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive what is due for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil.
You have permission to approach the bench (now):
2 Corinthians 5:10 – For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive what is due for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil.
Whats done is done, but you’re not done yet!
Matthew 16:27 For the Son of Man is going to come in his Father’s glory with his angels, and then he will reward each person according to what they have done.
Make Him smile:
Numbers 6:24-26 – The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.
Finish strong with faith:
Hebrews 11:6 – And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.
