Speaker: Pastor Mike - Date: November 8th, 2015

Series Description: We are all looking for freedom, but freedom can mean a lot of different things to different people. In this series we will see the freedom that God wants for you, and the pathway to find it. But to find that freedom, you have to follow the only one who can set you free – Jesus. If you haven’t already – start the journey of following Jesus to freedom today.

Message Description: When we decide to follow Jesus He brings freedom in many ways to our lives. But, the most significant way is freedom from SIN. Sin enslaves us, it masters us, and can rule over our lives. Sin is responsible for so many of the things that trap us and put our lives in bondage. Thankfully whom the Son sets free, is free indeed! In this message pastor Mike shares how Jesus has freed us from being enslaved to sin, and when we follow Him – freedom follows in our lives.

John 8:31-35 – So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” They answered him, “We are offspring of Abraham and have never been enslaved to anyone. How is it that you say, ‘You will become free’?” Jesus answered them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who practices sin is a slave to sin. The slave does not remain in the house forever; the son remains forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed

Romans 6:23 – For the wages of sin is death

Romans 3:23 – For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God

Isaiah 53:6 – All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned—every one—to his own way.

Proverbs 14:12 – There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way to death.

John 8:7-11 – And as they continued to ask him, he stood up and said to them, “Let him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone at her.” And once more he bent down and wrote on the ground. But when they heard it, they went away one by one, beginning with the older ones, and Jesus was left alone with the woman standing before him. Jesus stood up and said to her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?” She said, “No one, Lord.” And Jesus said, “Neither do I condemn you; go, and from now on sin no more.

Romans 6:1-2 – What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it?

Romans 6:6-7 – We know that our old self was crucified with him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin. For one who has died has been set free from sin.

Romans 6:11-14 – So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus. Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, to make you obey its passions. Do not present your members to sin as instruments for unrighteousness, but present yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life, and your members to God as instruments for righteousness. For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace.

Mark 10:51-52 – And Jesus said to him, “What do you want me to do for you?” And the blind man said to him, “Rabbi, let me recover my sight.” And Jesus said to him, “Go your way; your faith has made you well.” And immediately he recovered his sight and followed him on the way.

Matthew 12:15 – Jesus, aware of this, withdrew from there. And many followed him, and he healed them all.
